I’m writing this post half-covered in two layers of blankets accepting that not all parts of my body can be covered by blankets and still be productive. This is a good picture of who I’m. I’m always trying to manage more than one thing at the time because the clock is ticking and I’m not happy with my career. ‘ I need to do more’ – my brain says.
Another fact about me is that I’m never happy with whatever I do and if I don’t have anyone waiting for it, I keep working on it until A, I get bored of it or B, I run in some technical problem that I can’t fix unless I put a ridiculous amount of money into it. I realised this a couple days ago, when my boyfriend asked me how the blog was going and I said ‘I keep having new ideas so I haven’t had the time to actually write posts but I’ve added cool features… ‘ I didn’t even have to finish that sentence to get one of those once in a year flashbacks where you realise for the first time all the mistakes you have been doing. So here I’m writing and an extra-long one to compensate for the 3 extra months it took me to start writing.
For the first time in a couple years, I had time to enjoy my Summer: went to a barbecue on a Sunday, had drinks at 5pm on a weekday (more times than my bank account would like), bought more skincare than my skin needs, went to Portugal to visit my parents and soak up on all the vitamin C humanly possible. But most importantly I’ve worked on this blog for hours on end, trying to build a place where a community
Goals for the Blog
I’ve been around long enough to know that to grow a community and blog is not easy. But if people happen to stumble around this small pebble I want them to see it’s potential.
And for that
You’ve made it to the favourites section! If you skipped… Fair, I won’t judge you.
New Place in Town: Cured
Cured is barely new anymore, but It’s in that side of town where I never go unless I need to… Besides that, it’s a gem! It has two floors, the underground is next to the canal and they keep the big windows open, the perfect scenario for a glass of wine after work. But also super perfect if you’re looking for a quiet place to do some laptop work. I ordered a cappuccino and it was massive and even got a biscuit – cute!
TNSSFC: The Pelican Club
The Not So Secret Food Club was my way of solving a big problem: I wanted to eat out more often without having to whisperer it to my boyfriend in his sleep, hoping that sort of thing works. So I secretly invited a couple of friends and made some rules and Voila! Once a month one of us picks a restaurant and off we go! The Pelican Club was the restaurant selected for August and I must say I had some of the best pasta I’ve eaten outside of Italy. I’ll, eventually, write a review but I thought I should make TNSSFC part of my monthly highlights.
App: Daily Yoga
I hate the gym. I hate going after an 8-hour shift on my feet but I’m not happy with how weak my body feels and between the two I rather work out. Instead of forcing me to go to the gym, and let’s be real, quit after two sessions I decided to buy a year subscription of the Daily Yoga app, were based on what I want to achieve the virtual personal trainer makes a personalised routine. I’ve scheduled alarms to specific times of the day and so far so good!
Watch: The Handmaid’s Tale
It has been one of my favourite tv shows since it first premiered, the third season is crazy and everything I ever wanted. Do your self a favour and go watch it now if you haven’t!
New In: Canon zx
Fun fact about me, I studied film photography in uni and kept a camera with me all the time until a year ago when I stopped doing anything I cared about. Fortunately, I kept all my cameras so expect a lot of film photography content soon!
